On Tuesday, The Company Lab sponsored an exciting meeting of the female minds.
Women at the Top Symposium (WATTS), hosted by Congressman Chuck Fleischmann and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, provided a forum for female leaders to share advice and experiences with more than 100 of Chattanooga’s entrepreneurial women.
Corinne Henderson, a partner at Henderson and Gouger, PLLC, presented the event’s keynote speech. She began by asking each audience members to turn to the person next to them and explain their “dream business” ideas – which definitely kicked the energy up a notch. Her advice to female entrepreneurs:
- Stay Excited. You have to be excited about your company in order to successfully face the hardships startups have to endure.
- Create Your Own Board of Directors In all aspects of your life, surround yourself with experts. Corinne has a professional b.o.d., a fitness b.o.d. and a spiritual b.o.d.
- Trust Your Gut. Don’t let your excitement keep you from trusting your gut. Talk to your Board of Directors for their advice and go with your instincts.
WATTS also showcased Chattanooga’s extensive network of support for female founders. Representatives from 19 business resources spoke to the crowd – including CO.LAB’s very own Allison Reedy, who had a big hand in organizing the event.
CO.LAB was happy to be a part of WATTS, and extends a huge thank-you to the hosts, sponsors, speakers and participants for making it happen.
