The days have been few and far between when we’ve seen a group of Silicon Valley investors put money into a Chattanooga-based startup. But alas, such is the case with 500Startups and SupplyHog (and hopefully it’s a sign of many more to come from SV). Today, 500Startups released news of their latest “batch” of investments from all over the world. It was also covered on TechCrunch, GigaOm, NextWeb, and PandoDaily.

For those not familiar with SupplyHog, here’s a quick history about why we (CO.LAB) follow them closely:

November 2010- Nathan Derrick, SupplyHog’s cofounder and CEO, wins CO.LAB’s first annual Will This Float? competition pitching under the company name “Nopone”

June 2011- Nopone receives first investment from a Chattanooga seed fund

July 2011- Nopone is accepted into DreamIt Ventures’ accelerator in Philadelphia

November 2011- Nopone officially changes name to “SupplyHog” and launches website to much fanfare at DreamIt’s demo day

March 2012- SupplyHog raises second round of capital

August 2012- Version 2.0 of SupplyHog launches and begins generating revenue

October 2012- New investment infusion from Silicon Valley investors, 500Startups

Nathan and his team are now rolling out new products weekly and things are really moving. We are pumped to have Nathan and his team representing Chattanooga in the top entrepreneurial hotspot in the world!
