Chattanooga, TN (April 2, 2012) – Over 100 entrepreneurs, college students, designers, and web and mobile developers converged on The Company Lab (CO.LAB) this weekend to build mobile sites and web applications focused on enhancing the Chattanooga experience for visitors and residents.

The culminating event took place at the Mill on Sunday night as all nine teams took the stage and presented their mobile application and accompanying designs and strategies to take them to market. “We were really impressed with the quality of the ideas and the quick progress the teams made throughout the weekend,” said Sheldon Grizzle, air traffic controller of CO.LAB. “Almost all of them have some working prototypes of their products, which is amazing in such a short amount of time.”

In addition to CO.LAB, the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and AIGA co-sponsored the event. The CVB offered three $500 cash prizes to the top three teams, as judged by local expert judges as well as votes from the audience.  Winning teams also received packages of business services from Chambliss, Bahner, & Stophel, Miller & Martin, Henderson, Hutcherson, & McCullough, Hutchinson & Walls, Four Bridges Capital, and Claris Network.

There was also a large contingent of UTC design students that participated throughout the weekend. “Words can’t describe how proud I am of my students for their efforts during 48Hour Launch,” mentioned UTC art professor Leslie Jensen Inman via Twitter. “They exceeded expectations and are amazing.”
