So, our first stab at Co.lab Friday was not a failure, as we feared it could have been! In fact, we had 30 very talented people show up two Fridays ago including all kinds of entrepreneurs, geeks, designers, writers, marketers, and more. We were really blown away with the diversity of the group and how much talent was in the room. The participants in this first gathering were gracious and patient as we weren’t really sure how it was going to work. Here’s a quick summary of what took place:

Ate a fantastic lunch from El Meson while getting to know each other. Came together as a big group and pitched ideas of projects to work on. Broke up into four or five groups to begin working on the projects including a new hackerspace, branding for a new outdoor center, and a blog about church and religion which began to take shape.

Now we’re going to have our second Co.lab Friday on January 28th. Everyone is invited and we anticipate things going a little smoother this time. We received feedback from several participants that it would be helpful to know what projects are being worked on ahead of time, so people can figure out where their skill sets are needed. If you have a project that you would like to be considered for Co.lab Friday, please email us with details on the project and what kind of help you need on it (design, writing, web, etc). We will post a list of the projects by January 26th so everyone has a chance to join a group that needs their skills.

We’ll gather for lunch at 12:30- sorry, brown bag this time though- and then work on the projects from 1:00-4:00.

Please RSVP so we know who’s coming and hope to see you there!
