Annual startup pitch competition

Will This Float? is an annual business pitch competition that showcases up-and-coming startup ideas in southeast Tennessee. This fast-paced event is often the first moment in the limelight for participating entrepreneurs. Each contestant gets three minutes to pitch his or her startup idea to before a panel of judges and an audience of local startup leaders, general attendees, and potential mentors and business partners. At the end of the evening, the winning entrepreneurs receive a cash prize and package of free business services to take their startup ideas to the next level.

Annual business launching competition

48Hour Launch is an annual startup development competition designed to inspire entrepreneurial action in southeast Tennessee. The weekend-long program challenges teams of entrepreneurs and business specialists to spend 48 hours transforming a startup concept into a viable business model or prototype. The experience culminates with a Demo Night, where participants debut their work to the public and a panel of judges. At the end of the event, the top scoring startups receive cash prizes and packages of free business services to support their continuing development.

The CO.STARTERS 24Hour Generator is designed to inspire high school girls to develop the vision, enthusiasm, and tenacity needed to become entrepreneurs.

Drawing a diverse group of girls together from across southeast Tennessee, this overnight event provides a platform for young women to combine their talents while working to solve real problems in business and the community. Participants leave the experience with the relationships, insights, and tools needed to move entrepreneurial ideas into action.

This year CO.LAB is partnering with the Public Education Foundation and Girls Preparatory School to bring you 24Hour Generator on March 16-17, 2018 at Mad, Bad, & Dangerous: Girl Edition.

Speaking & Networking Events


Chadev is Chattanooga’s premiere community for developers. Each week at The Edney, as many as 90 members gather for both local and national speakers. Among the community’s 675 members is a wide range of expertise in software, technology, and design. The group has been recognized by Meetup.com as an outstanding example of a growing tech community.


1 Million Cups

Every Wednesday morning, one or two early-stage startups present their companies to a diverse audience of their peers, mentors, educators, and advisors. 1 Million Cups is a weekly event started by the Kauffman Foundation and is currently held in more than 107 communities across the nation.


Students + Startups

College students in the Greater Chattanooga area are invited to Floor Five of the Edney for connecting with some of the city’s leading startups. Bring an open mind and your resume—and make sure to leave the suit at home.
